While I don’t have a miraculous story of how chiropractic saved me or someone close to me, I found my profession via a different route. I enjoyed studying kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin but was unsure where that would lead. I read up on the philosophy of chiropractic and was intrigued. After graduating, I decided to work at a chiropractic office in Lake Geneva, WI, to see what this was all about. I was fascinated! I watched people come into the clinic in severe pain and walk out feeling much better. I watched the doctor attend to patients using methods completely unfamiliar to me.
After working at that clinic for about two years, I continued my education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, the birthplace of chiropractic. Palmer was rich with chiropractic philosophy, technique and science. I worked as a teaching assistant in both the anatomy and technique departments while there. I also had the amazing opportunity to travel to India with the clinic abroad program. I was part of a group of about 50 students that treated over 8000 patients while there. What an experience!
In 2009 I moved here to Eugene to work at Tracy & Keim Chiropractic. Dr. Tracy was my mentor for over a year, during which time we worked side by side. I learned her unique adjusting style. A few years later, Dr. Wade Watts retired and transferred his patients to me. Again, I had a veteran chiropractor work by my side to ensure his patients received the same type of care they were used to. My current adjusting style is a mix of Dr. Tracy, Dr. Watts and my own technique. I mostly use a drop table for thoracic and lumbar spine adjustments but also use manual techniques, particularly for the cervical spine.
I specialize in caring for people who have been in motor vehicle crashes. I have had extensive training in these particular cases and continue education classes in this area regularly. Besides chiropractic care, I refer patients for physical therapy, massage therapy, electrical therapy, taping, exercise/posture instruction and usually K-laser therapy, all of which are available here in our clinic. There can be a lot of confusion surrounding a crash and how to go about getting care. I can be your attending physician through your healing, which means that I can refer you to other providers and/or order diagnostic imaging. Dealing with insurance after a crash is often confusing. We are happy to bill your insurance company for you and also correspond with them as needed.
It is such a pleasure to watch people transform and heal with chiropractic care. One thing I really love about working in this clinic is the individualized care that each practitioner offers to each patient. Each one of us works a bit differently, and every patient that comes through our door needs specific, personalized care. We truly work together as a team. We will never force unnecessary treatment plans on you and will give your absolute best to get you feeling your best.
